The online bookstore under the China Institute of Stage Design opened its first offline outlet near Tian'anmen Square in central Beijing Sunday.

The offline outlet offers over 1,500 books in more than 200 categories ranging from stage design to theatrical culture. The bookstore was founded in 2015 and has attracted 100,000 customers in four years.

Located in a theater for traditional Chinese operas, the outlet will also hold reading events and handwork classes.

Lang Yue, the founder of the store, said integrated development of online and offline businesses has become a trend for bookstores in China.

"The Internet has brought challenges for traditional bookstores, but it has also made them seek better development approaches," Lang said, adding that China's vast cultural market and favorable government policies all contribute to the revival of traditional bookstores.
