Famous Hong Kong actor Simon Yam was stabbed in the stomach while attending a promotional event on Saturday morning for an opening ceremony of a furniture store in Zhongshan, Guangdong province.

In a shocking video from an onlooker posted online, a man rushed onto the stage at 10:17 a.m., pulling a knife out of his trousers to stab Yam. After the first attack, the star tried to dodge his agitated assailant, and several others on stage also tried to stop the man. Eventually, a group of security guards were able to overpower the man.

Another video shows Yam touching his stomach and realizing he is bleeding. He was rushed to a hospital, and local police later released a report confirming he had been hospitalized for a check-up, but had not suffered a life-threatening injury.

The detained suspect is now under investigations.
