New 'Detective Conan' film set for Sept. China screening

"Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire," the 23rd installment in the Japanese animated film franchise "Detective Conan," is set to hit Chinese mainland theaters on Sept. 13, the movie's official Weibo account announced Monday.

The film revolves around a plot involving the titular "blue sapphire" jewel, a murder case and a Singapore-related conspiracy, where the film will take place.

"Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire" premiered in Japan on April 12, 2019.

The franchise's 22nd installment, "Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer," made its debut on Nov. 9, 2018 on the Chinese mainland, where it generated a total box office of 127 million yuan (about 18 million U.S. dollars).
