The Mongolian long-tune soprano performed more than 20 classics such as "Golden-winged Bird," "Xilingol Grassland," "Horizon," and "Breeze in Deep Autumn" in an innovative way at "Prairie in the Heart, Heaven in the Dream" -- Uyanga Xilingol Grassland Musical Story-telling Concert. The show was divided into four parts in a musical story-telling approach through the singers' perspective on the local scenery and culture, as well as history, folk arts and her nostalgia.

"I love my hometown. I want more people to hear and see how it keeps the natural atmosphere, cultural traditions and the love for the homeland," Uyanga said to China.org.cn.

Her name "Uyanga" means "melody" in Mongolian. She was born in Xilingol League of Inner Mongolia and is the first long tune postgraduate student, a member of the Long Tune Association, and an inheritor of Mongolian long tune -- a world intangible cultural heritage.

Uyanga has won numerous awards including the national grand champion of the 2017 CCTV Chinese Folk Songs TV contest and has participated in the CCTV Spring Festival Gala twice. She also performed at Musikverein, also known as the Golden Hall of Vienna for the Chinese New Year concert in 2007. She has released three albums.

Since the beginning of this year, Xilingol League has organized a series of cultural tourism events with the theme of "Ode to Xilingol, Vast Grassland." The concert is also a part of the 2019 cultural tourism events of Xilingol League designed to promote the grassland culture and local image.

Qu Weiguo, a member of the CPC Xilingol League Committee and one of the organizers of the event, told China.org.cn that as Xilingol demonstrates its beautiful panoramic view in the form of musical stories, they want to let everyone fall in love with the grassland through songs, visuals, stories and feelings.

He added that this year, the local government has tried many ways to promote grassland culture, injecting and integrating many new modern elements such as an e-sports carnival, music festival and motorbike festival. These events have breathed fresh air into the local cultural landscape and attracted many domestic and foreign visitors. The official said they would present more appealing and new events next year.

Xilingol Grassland is located north of Beijing. It is one of the four major grasslands in China. It has beautiful natural scenery, profound cultural heritage and rich folk customs. It is one of the most outstanding areas of natural grassland in China and the most attractive land for traditional nomadic culture.

In recent years, Xilingol League has relied on abundant grassland cultural tourism resources to focus on building a national tourism demonstration zone and important tourism and leisure destinations at home and abroad, forming a horse cultural tourism zone, a Mongolian cultural tourism zone, an original ecological grassland tourist zone and border port business and tourist areas.

That night, Uyanga also released a new music video at her concert, titled "Xilingol Grassland," showcasing the most beautiful scenery of Xilingol grassland with her amazing voice.

"The greatest charm of Mongolian music lies in the fact that every song contains a story. I hope the concert will immerse the audience, who can understand and connect more closely with me and my hometown," Uyanga said.
