Family drama 'Mia and the White Lion' set for China screening

French family adventure film "Mia et le lion blanc," or Mia and the White Lion in English, is set for theatrical release on the Chinese mainland on Sept. 20, according to the China Film Distribution and Exhibition Association.
It tells of an extraordinary friendship between a young girl starring Daniah De Villiers and a white lion, and her incredible adventure across the South African savanna to give her best friend a new home.
Directed by Gilles De Maistre, "Mia and the White Lion" was filmed in South Africa.
The director chose to shoot over the course of three years so the film's young stars could bond and develop real relationships with the lions that appear in the film.
The worldwide theatrical release of the film started in December 2018.
