Luohu will host some cultural activities during the Mid-Autumn Day and the National Day holidays.

An exhibition of painting and calligraphy opened on Sept 3 at the Shenzhen Art Museum to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The exhibition showcases 100 works of many famous painters and calligraphers, and will last until Sept 15.

An exhibition of the works of young masters of fine arts from Beijing and Shenzhen opened on Sept 6 at the Luohu Art Museum. The exhibition has attracted the participation of about 100 artists. A seminar was also held at the same time to strengthen their exchanges, and deepen their mutual understanding.

The exhibition will last until Sept 13, and is free to visit.

A national music drama featuring bone flutes that date back 8,000 years, will be staged on Sept 11 and Sept 12 at the Shenzhen Grand Theatre. The performers, who are from Shanghai, are the country's top players of the traditional instrument.

A concert to celebrate the founding of the New China will be staged at the Shenzhen Grand Theatre. A chorus made up of nearly 200 students of universities in Shenzhen will star in the concert, and their performance marks the establishment of a chorus alliance of Shenzhen college students.

The opera, Jiangjie, telling the heroic stories of a martyr, who sacrificed her life for the Chinese people's revolutionary cause in 1949 in Chongqing, will be staged at the Shenzhen Grand Theatre during the holidays. The staging of the opera is also meant to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the founding of the theatre.

The opera, which is the first of its kind staged at the theatre, as well as the first that Shenzhen has produced, became a success overnight after its debut at the end of 2017.

The theatre will also hold a ukulele concert on Sept 14, a concert and a lecture of Hui Opera, a traditional local opera from East China's Anhui province, on Sept 14 and Sept 15 respectively.

The Luohu government will also organize a small theatre performance featuring cross talks, traditional storytelling, and some other traditional performing arts in the Antique City of Shenzhen on Sept 14.
