Spy thriller 'Saturday Fiction' set for Dec. China screening

"Saturday Fiction," a black and white historical spy thriller set in Shanghai in 1941, is set to open in Chinese mainland theaters on Dec. 7, according to the China Film Distribution and Exhibition Association.

It stars Gong Li as a film and stage actress who works undercover to gather intelligence for the Allies. She discovers the Japanese plan to attack Pearl Harbor but chooses not to share the information.

Known as "Lan Xin Da Ju Yuan" in Chinese, the film by Chinese director Lou Ye made its world premiere last week at the Venice Film Festival in Italy.

A 49-second trailer has been released for "Saturday Fiction" by the film's official Weibo account.
