The Chinese opera "Mount Yimeng" is being staged from Tuesday to Thursday at the National Center for the Performing Arts.

Based on the history of the Mount Yimeng revolutionary base, which was expanded during the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the play tells a moving story of how the soldiers and civilians in the revolutionary base shared happiness and sorrow and stuck together in life and death.

The dance drama uses many traditional Chinese instruments such as the zhudi, a horizontal bamboo flute, and suona, a woodwind instrument known for its high-pitched sound, delighting audiences with strong local characteristics.

As of Wednesday night, the drama has been performed 70 times across China with more than 70,000 people in attendance.
