According to NCPA vice-president Zhao Jiachen, this year's event will continue to feature fabulous free performances, films, artistic exhibitions and interactive activities.

Since its inception in 2009, the open day has become a special occasion for the center to celebrate its birthday together with the general public and enable more people to enhance their arts knowledge at one of the world's largest performing arts center, Zhao said at a press briefing on Thursday.

The NCPA, located in central Beijing, was officially opened to public in 2007. Over the past 12 years, more than 300,000 artists from around the world have presented 10,480 commercial performances there.

The NCPA is dedicated to promoting cultural exchanges and mutual learning. "We have given performances in 19 countries and regions, and established strategic cooperation partnerships with 34 foreign artistic institutions," Zhao said.

This year, the NCPA organized three international forums respectively on performing arts, stage design and symphonic music, offering platforms for arts communities of different countries to exchange ideas and enhance cooperation, she added.

At the press briefing, the arts center unveiled its brand image named "Art Goose," which was the winner of an online public vote.

An NCPA press release explained that with elegant appearance and amiable temperament, the white goose epitomizes our commitment to making high-standard and high-quality arts more available and approachable to the general public.

It is expected to help the organization increase interaction with the audience and create more commercial possibilities.
