Hengdian World Studios, one of China's biggest film and television program production centers, from Tuesday opened all its studios for free to film crews and teleplay crews working on modern, contemporary and sci-fi-themed TV series.
"More films and TV dramas now turn to studio shot rather than location shot as China's film industry develops," said Xu Tianfu, vice president of Hengdian Group Holdings Ltd. and deputy head of the management office of Hengdian cinematic and cultural industry cluster zone.
The crews will also enjoy preferential policies of hotel accommodation in Hengdian World Studios and facilitation services, Xu added.
Dubbed "China's Hollywood," Hengdian, located in east China's Zhejiang Province, is the shooting base for one-fourth of China's movies and one-third of its TV series, with more than 64,000 episodes shot.
The establishment of the cinematic and cultural industry cluster zone was approved by the provincial government in March, aiming at building a platform that covers the entire industry chain including production, distribution, investment and development of derivative products.
About 200 studios in Hengdian will be upgraded within two to three years, with a 12,000-square-meter studio, the world's largest, scheduled to be put into use in March 2020.
