"Extinction," a science fiction film produced by U.S. streaming giant Netflix, will hit the big screen on the Chinese mainland on Saturday.

By integrating elements including suspense and science fiction, "Extinction" depicts the story of Peter, whose dream predicts a disaster brought by a group of mysterious alien creatures. Peter then tries to figure out the reasons behind it while helping his family members survive.

The film was written by Eric Heisserer, the screenwriter who created the film "Arrival," an Oscar nominee that garnered about 108 million yuan (around 15.7 million U.S. dollars) on the Chinese mainland during the screening in 2017.

According to the major Chinese film database Maoyan, "Extinction" has pocketed over 233,000 yuan in presales.
