Organizers revealed to China.org.cn that China's biggest virtual benefit concert garnered 270 million views during live broadcasts on two nights, according to data collected from all platforms.

More than 130 musical acts agreed to participate in the online music extravaganza to encourage Chinese people to believe in the future and restart their life after the COVID-19 nightmare.

A total of 65 acts were performed on May 4 and May 5, the last two days of China's national May Day holiday. The virtual evening concert included performances by Faye Wong, Lang Lang, Wang Feng, Pu Shu, Karen Mok, Cai Xukun, Lay Zhang, G.E.M., Black Panther, Coco Lee, and more. Even the Chinese national table tennis team joined to perform "I Love You China," a cover of Wang Feng's classic patriotic song.

The two concerts were broadcast live on various video streaming platforms, including Youku, Tencent Video, and Yangshipin. China.org.cn also broadcast the virtual concerts.

Organizers said that another two concerts with the rest of the lineup will be held soon over the coming weekend. The third one, headlined by Na Ying, Jackson Yee, Kris Wu and many more, will be held on May 9, while the fourth will happen on May 10.

The project was put together in just 15 days by the general curator Gao Xiaosong, a renowned musician and songwriter.

Damai.cn, Xiami Music, NetEase Cloud Music, Sina Weibo, and Tencent Music Entertainment Group are the initiators and co-organizers of the shows. Major record labels and live show corporations from international companies, such as Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Live Nation, and domestic companies, such as Modern Sky Entertainment and Taihe Music Group, all gave their full support.

Li Jie, CEO of ticketing platform Damai.cn, said that the benefit concerts are not only consolidating people's faith in the future but also helping Chinese musicians to resume work.

In the future, Damai will cooperate with Youku to launch a new program to provide independent musicians, bands, and musicians with high-quality live performance venues and services, promote live broadcast and video streaming for them, and support artists by giving them most of the proceeds. Other music platforms likewise have similar plans, he added.
