A special fund was set up to preserve ancient villages and buildings in Jinxi County, east China's Jiangxi Province, the China Foundation for Cultural Heritage Conservation (CFCHC) said on Monday.

The aim of the special fund is to solve problems in the protection of ancient villages and buildings, including insufficient fund integration, as well as to explore a path for the protection and utilization of cultural relics led by the government and participated by social forces.

Jinxi County currently has over 11,000 ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911), thus being called "an ancient village museum without walls." The county has been included in an ancient building protection campaign initiated by the CFCHC.
