Sketch exhibition on renowned artist opens in Beijing

An exhibition on the works of late Chinese painter and art educator Ye Qianyu has commenced at the art gallery of the China National Academy of Painting in Beijing.

The exhibition that will run until Aug 31, has put on display 380 items selected from over 700 sketches that Ye donated to the academy. The exhibits include images of opera characters, dancers, athletes, animals, and plants.

Ye was born in 1907 and during his illustrious career he devoted himself to the creation of cartoons and traditional Chinese paintings.
