The hematology branch of the Chinese Medical Association (CMA), the Beijing Health Alliance Charitable Foundation (BJHACF) and Takeda China jointly supported the documentary project, chronicling the development and history of hematology in China, recording and paying tribute to the top scientists, doctors and researchers, and looking forward to the future direction of the medical category.

"The vigorous development of China's hematology for more than 40 years is inseparable from the joint efforts of the government, experts and scholars, business partners and all sectors of society," said Professor Wu Depei, head of the hematology branch of the CMA and director of the department of hematology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University.

"We are very happy to be able to create the documentary series with our partners to show the milestone developments, changes and stories in the field of hematology in China over the past decades. We hope that, through better resource integration and complementary advantages, it will further help the advancement and development of China's hematology sector."

Wu also revealed a museum on China's hematology development would be built in Suzhou, Jiangsu province within the next two years.

Hematology is a branch of medical science, focusing on blood and the hematopoietic tissues. Since China's reform and opening up was launched more than 40 years ago, many breakthroughs have been achieved in the basic research and clinical fields of hematology.

The project's creators said China's hematology research had been developing vigorously, and it has achieved a great advance from scratch, and from weak to strong in many sub-specialized fields. The influence of Chinese hematology experts in the international academic field is gradually increasing, and the diagnosis and treatment technology of blood diseases have reached the leading international level in many fields, helping many Chinese patients with blood diseases to improve their quality of life and achieve long-term survival.

Liu Ying, chairman of BJHACF, said her charitable organization was dedicated to helping the cultural construction of hematology and medicine. "Through the hematology documentary production, we can chronicle hematology development in China, which is conducive to preserving the history of hematology, and also to spreading the medical and cultural knowledge of hematology to the society. "

The project was unveiled at the CIIE booth of Takeda, Japan's leading pharmaceutical company.

Sean Shan, president of Takeda China, believed that choosing the CIIE, a platform that encourages cooperation and innovation and supports international exchanges, to launch this documentary project, would further "enhance international medical research exchanges, focus on the latest global cutting-edge medical diagnosis and treatment technologies, and promote the development of the medical discipline."

The documentary series is expected to be released in 2021.
