A complete collection of translations by late Chinese poet and scholar Feng Zhi (1905-1993) has been published by the Shanghai People's Publishing House, presenting a panorama of German literature.

A renowned poet, Feng devoted his entire life to the teaching, research and promotion of foreign literature, especially German writing. Spending nearly 60 years in translation, Feng was a forerunner of translation and study of German literature in the country.

Comprising four volumes, the collection includes Feng's translations of masterpieces by famous poets and writers, most of whom were German, such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Friedrich Holderlin and Heinrich Heine.

The translations cover a rich variety of genres including poetry, letter, novel and prose.

A number of rare pictures that capture moments from Feng's academic life have also been included in the collection for the first time.
