Action crime thriller "Caught in Time" continues to climb up on China's 2020 box office chart, with its total revenue surpassing 500 million yuan (76 million U.S. dollars) and beating out three other films in the past two days.

With total ticket sales hitting 512 million yuan by Friday morning, "Caught in Time" currently ranks sixth on the yearly chart, according to data compiled by the China Movie Data Information Network.

The Chinese film follows a detective as he tracks down a gang of criminals 10 years after they initially evaded arrest.

It has topped China's weekly box office chart twice since its release on Nov. 20, according to movie-ticketing and film data platform Maoyan.

The movie's social media accounts last week announced that a sequel, "Caught in Time II," is in the works, without revealing a release date.

China's 2020 box office revenue had exceeded 17.3 billion yuan by Friday morning.
