Forum on Chinese cultural economy held in Beijing

The second session of the Academic Forum on Chinese Cultural Economy was held at the Renmin University of China in Beijing on Saturday, along with the Annual Meeting of Cultural and Tourism Corporate Brands.

Liu Yuanchun, vice-president of Renmin University of China, said at the forum that, to achieve the goal of building a powerful cultural country, the cultural industry in China should pave a new road, having its own features with Chinese characteristics.

Song Yangyang, deputy director of the Institute of Creative Industries Technology at the Renmin University of China, gave a keynote speech on aspects such as cultural finance, cultural technology, the tourist economy, the arts economy and new cultural infrastructure.

During the annual meeting, a list showing the top 50 Chinese cultural and tourism enterprises with high brand value was released. It showed that the top 50 enterprises had a combined brand value worth 698.228 billion yuan ($107.8 billion), an increase of 22.1 percent compared to 2018.

Besides, cultural and tourism enterprises in first-tier cities still lead the country, with 70 percent of the listed companies in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Zhejiang. The top three industries with brand value advantages are digital culture, cultural tourism and news publishing.
