Editor's note: Lunar New Year has just passed, but that doesn't mean that the celebrations are over just yet. Traditionally, Chinese people continue to celebrate the arrival of the New Year throughout the first month of the lunar calendar. Here are some highlight events taking place this week:


1. ‘Zhuang Yuan Mei' — Peking opera

"Zhuang Yuan Mei" is a classic love story set during the reign of Emperor Taizong of the Song Dynasty (960–1279). The opera is one of the classic performances of the Jingju Theatre Company of Beijing, a national-level Peking opera troupe celebrated for its long history.

2. Century-old classical concert


Young musicians of the Music Fans Classical will adopt a more fashionable style to perform time-honored classics from around the world. By combining the seriousness of classical music with the vigor of pop music, the concert looks to offer audiences a unique experience.

3. ‘The Gin Game'

"The Gin Game" is a two-person, two-act play by Donald L. Coburn that premiered at the American Theater Arts in Hollywood in 1976, directed by Kip Niven. It was Coburn's first play, and the theater's first production. In 1978, the play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Venue: Shanghai PG Theater, Huangpu district, Shanghai


4. Shanghai Coca-Cola Retro Theme Pavilion


When Dr. John Pemberton first invented Coca-Cola in 1886, it cost him $70 in business expenses, while sales added up to just $50 that year. Today however, the drink has become popular all around the world, a symbol of American culture and a major sponsor of many international events. 


At the Coca-Cola Retro Theme Pavilion in Shanghai, visitors can take a walk down memory lane and experience old Shanghai, while reminiscing about their childhoods via this classic beverage.
