Vivian Maier worked for four decades as a nanny and, in private, enjoyed being a street photographer.

Nearly two years after her death in 2009, Maier's photos went viral online. In her lifetime, she produced an extensive body of some 150,000 photographic prints. She captured scenes of primarily Chicago, where she worked for decades, as well as New York City, where she was born and raised, and Los Angeles.

Today Art Museum will open an exhibition to bring nearly 100 photos Maier took between the 1950s and '80s to Beijing. It will be a glimpse into the lonely, mysterious world of this woman, through the streets of these cities she photographed and the rich spiritual world captured in her lens.
