Editor's note: A themed symphonic concert by China's top symphony orchestras, an original ballet in Shanghai, as well as an oil painting exhibition. Here are three events you won't want to miss this week. 

1, Themed symphonic concert "Lighthouse"

A symphonic concert under the theme of "Lighthouse" will be staged on May 4, as part of the 7th China Orchestra Festival. 

The festival will present a series of concerts until May 7. These concerts aim to display the vitality and dynamism of contemporary Chinese symphonies, as well as the achievements of Chinese orchestras over the past 100 years.

2, Ballet – "The Burning Youth"

The Shanghai Ballet will present an original ballet, "The Burning Youth," at the Shanghai Grand Theatre on May 7. Focusing on the patriotic youth who went to Yan'an in the 1930s and 1940s, it tells the story of their progressive growth and takes the audience back to that time.

Venue: Shanghai Grand Theatre

3,  Innovation and integration--Li Shucheng's Fine Oil Painting Exhibition

Organized by Guangzhou International Art Expo and the Guangzhou-based Xinkuaibao newspaper, "Innovation and integration – Li Shucheng's Fine Oil Painting Exhibition" will be held at the Yishidai Art Museum on May 8. It promises to bring the audience a visual feast.

Venue: Yishidai Art Museum, Tianhe District, Guangzhou
