More than 240 performances, some 300 lectures and forums, and nearly 500 interactive activities will be staged during the week-long Chinese Opera Culture Week beginning Oct. 1 at Beijing Garden Expo Park, according to a Sept. 27 press conference for the Fifth Chinese Opera Culture Week.

Co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Beijing municipal government, this year's event will feature an exclusive Winter Olympics-themed stage as well as a foreigner-friendly activity dubbed "I Love Chinese Opera," allowing expats in Beijing to experience the charm of Opera.

Likewise, this year's event will also feature a distinct fusion of cultural tourism, combining performances with interactive activities and games, culminating in a carnival-style immersive experience.

A promotional film for Chinese Opera Culture Week will be shown on eight large outdoor screens as well as 6,000 building screens across the city starting from Sept. 27.

The Winter Olympics-themed stage is located on Ginkgo Avenue near Taiyuan Garden of the Beijing Garden Expo Park, with the Beijing Winter Olympics logo prominently displayed in the background, and flanked by the mascots for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, an animated giant panda named "Bing Dwen Dwen" and a red lantern baby called "Shuey Rhon Rhon." During the event, Winter Olympics-themed music will be performed in various traditional Chinese forms.

In addition, Beijing Garden Expo Park will set up an exhibition and sales area for unique Chinese cultural and creative products. Visitors can also don Chinese Opera costumes and its iconic makeup in this area.

A total of 14 performances, 12 lectures and one academic forum from this year's Chinese Opera Culture Week will be broadcast live online via multiple platforms.
