The M+ Museum, billed as "Asia's first global museum of contemporary visual culture" located in West Kowloon Cultural District of Hong Kong, will open Friday.

Betty Fung Ching Suk-yee, chief executive of Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District, said the museum can serve as the bridge of cultural and art exchange between China and countries around the world.

According to Fung, there are 33 exhibition halls covering around 17,000 square meters, making it the biggest museum in Hong Kong.

In addition, the M+ Museum will display a collection of visual culture that bring together design and architecture, moving images, and visual art from Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland, elsewhere in Asia, and beyond.

During the first exhibition since the M+ Museum’s official opening, 1,500 works of more than 770 artists from over 30 countries and regions around the world will be on display. And for the first year, entry will be free, Fung added.
