Editor's note: An opera by a famous Italian composer, an exhibition showcasing China's Taihang Mountains as well as a science-themed musical – these are the events you won't want to miss this week.

1. Opera 'Il Trovatore' (Concert Version)

2021 marks the 120th anniversary of the death of Giuseppe Verdi, the great 19th-century Italian opera composer. As one of Verdi's most famous masterpieces, the opera "Il Trovatore (The Troubadour)," has dazzled audiences for more than 100 years. Set in Spain in the 15th century, the opera tells a tale of love, filial piety and revenge, expressing the composer's deep sympathy for ordinary people oppressed by the nobility and his desire for social equality.

Dates: Nov. 27-28

2. Exhibition 'A Monument of Taihang Mountains'

China's Taihang Mountains span the eastern edge of the Loess Plateau in Shanxi, Henan and Hebei provinces. As a cradle of Chinese civilization, the mountains have long cultivated the region's vitality and livelihood. This exhibition features traditional Chinese paintings by more than 30 artists from Beijing, Shanxi and Hebei provinces, and serves as a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) as well as the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the China Central Institute for Culture and History.

Dates: Nov. 25-Dec. 5

3. Musical 'Goodbye Echo'

Wrapped in the theme of a "scientific dream," the musical "Goodbye Echo" tells a heartwarming and hopeful story about the relationship between science and humanity in the year 2075. 

Dates: Nov. 25-Dec. 5

Venue: Shanghai Gong Stage, Shanghai
