Saudi Arabia's Film Commission launched on Monday a strategy to build an industry with a revenue of 500 million U.S. dollars.

The strategy will promote initiatives that aim to establish the kingdom as a world-class film hub, the commission said in a statement.

The strategy covers six areas, including ensuring homegrown talents and creating a film sector that can compete in terms of services, offerings and incentives.

The strategy aims to boost domestic film production, attract further international production houses and promote and distribute Saudi films in regional and international markets.

A new Saudi Film Institute will also be launched, dedicated to film production and professional training.

The launch of the strategy comes ahead of the first-ever Red Sea International Film Festival to be held in Jeddah in December, which will see local, regional and international film enthusiasts, filmmakers and film investors descend on the Red Sea coast.
