An online get-together party to celebrate China's Spring Festival, which fell on Feb. 1, was held in Valletta on Sunday evening.

The gala was jointly organized by the China Cultural Center in Malta, the Confucius Institute of the University of Malta, the 17th China medical team for Malta and the Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine of the University of Malta.

Maltese people were also invited to participate in the online party, which featured a variety of activities including artistic performances, knowledge quiz and interactive experiences.

Artistic performances such as the chorus of "When smiling you are very nice," talk show "Chinese Zodiac" and "Traditional Chinese medicine culture" brought joy to the audience. Several Maltese students learning Chinese language in the China Cultural Center also sang their favourite songs.

A knowledge quiz about the Chinese culture and Olympic Winter Games was also held, coupled with a short video showing winter tourism in north China.

At the height of the online gathering, Chinese and Maltese audiences learned to sing "Together for a Shared Future" and greeted "Happy New Year" with Chinese, Maltese, and English languages.

This was the second year to hold the "Happy Chinese New Year" online party since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, said Yang Xiaolong, director of the China Cultural Center.
