A new film hit Chinese screens on Monday, hoping that its Valentine's Day release will entice couples to head to the cinema.

"Don't Forget I Love You" is directed by Huang Zhenzhen and stars Gulinazha (also known as Gulnezer Bextiyar), Liu Yihao and Zhang Xinyi. It tells the story of a girl whose boyfriend is suffering from a special brain problem — every morning he awakes to find he has forgotten what happened the previous day. In spite of this, his girlfriend still tries every single day to remind him how much they love each other.

"I did a lot of homework before shooting the film, and I found that there are real cases of this neurological disorder," actor Liu Yihao said at the movie's premiere in Beijing on Saturday. He added, "you have to be serious about love, otherwise you will never own it."

Discussing the movie's theme, Gulinazha also said, "you may not believe that love can last forever, but you should forever believe in love."

"Don't Forget I Love You" landed in Chinese movie theaters on Monday hoping to appeal to couples looking for something romantic on this day. The movie is up against two other romance films set to debut on Valentine's Day — "Ten Years Of Loving You" by Zhao Fei and "0.1% World" by Sun Lin.
