Jiangxi Embroidery adopts Bing Dwen Dwen look

Jiangxi Embroidery, a 300-year-old tradition in China and the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Jiangxi Province, has put on a new look after children learned to embroider the pattern of Bing Dwen Dwen, the mascot of Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, in east China's Jiangxi Province.
Guided by Yu Zhenglian and Zhou Nanying, both 8th-generation inheritors of Jiangxi Embroidery, dozens of children in the training base have been instructed to embroider Bing Dwen Dwen on fans and pendants.
Embroidering Bing Dwen Dwen proves that the Jiangxi Embroidery, normally known for its Chinese wash painting contents, can be applied to present cute images like the mascot, noted Yu who has offered free teaching of the skill for years.
In addition, the materials have also been upgraded to silk which is more convenient for storage, according to Yu.
"Teaching these children to embroider Bing Dwen Dwen is not only a way to arouse their interest in traditional Chinese embroidery, but a way to cheer for Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics," said Yu.
