Week of traditional music kicks off in Kyrgyzstan

A week of traditional music kicked off in Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday and will run until April 25.

The Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the country said that the event is timed to coincide with the celebration of the Day of Traditional Music, which falls on April 25.

The purpose of the traditional music week is to preserve, improve and develop traditional music, it said.

There will also be cultural and scientific events during the week, including exhibitions and fairs of the traditional culture of ethnic groups, master classes on traditional music, and concerts.

In addition, there will be the International Congress of Music and Dance, a round table "Teaching the Musical Art of Oral Tradition," and the first International Scientific and Practical Conference on Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychology.

The guests and participants will be scientists, cultural figures, researchers, keepers of oral and traditional culture from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Tajikistan, Italy, Britain, Germany, Hungary and other countries.
