DreamWorks Animation and Universal Pictures' animated film "The Bad Guys" repeated as the winner of the North American box office with a three-day estimate of 16.1 million U.S. dollars during a calm weekend, according to studio figures released by measurement firm Comscore on Sunday.

The family action-comedy has grossed 44.44 million dollars through Sunday within 10 days after its release in North America.

Helmed by Pierre Perifel in his feature directorial debut, "The Bad Guys" stars the voices of Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Craig Robinson, Anthony Ramos and Awkwafina, among others.

Based on the New York Times best-selling book series of the same name by Aaron Blabey, the film follows a crackerjack criminal crew of animal outlaws as they attempt their most challenging con yet -- becoming model citizens.

Overseas, "The Bad Guys" has earned 74.3 million dollars for a global cume of 118.74 million dollars to date.

Paramount Pictures' family-friendly film "Sonic The Hedgehog 2" came in second with 11.35 million dollars on its fourth weekend for a North American total of 160.92 million dollars.

Warner Bros. Pictures' fantasy film "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore" landed in third with 8.3 million dollars on its third weekend, pushing its North American total to 79.55 million dollars.
