Beijing to hold massive sci-fi carnival

A sci-fi carnival event will be held from Sept. 28 to Oct. 5 in Beijing alongside the 2022 China Science Fiction Convention.
"Trendy Sci-fi Adventure Season 2022," sponsored by Beijing Capital Group Exhibitions & Events and Zhongguancun Exhibition and Service Industry Alliance, is a large-scale creative event covering fields such as sci-fi, sci-tech, culture, and video games, attracting sci-fi gurus, enterprises, creative studios, and fans.
This year's carnival will have six sections. The first will showcase creative products, concepts, and works from China's sci-fi and high-tech industry, including those related to AR, VR and XR, the metaverse, virtual icons, smart wear, and chip R&D enterprises. There will be a section for publishers and franchise managers to exhibit and launch their sci-fi books, comics, and movies in immersive and digital ways.
Meanwhile, a popular science zone will exhibit real aerospace, DNA, meteorolite, and space mining technologies. Also, a grand stage will be provided for cosplay shows, concerts, and speeches, surrounded by sci-fi props and installations. Besides, there will also be a creative merchandise fair, providing toys and a variety of cuisines, as well as an area with sci-fi-themed family entertainment, including arcade games, robot table tennis, and escape rooms.
The sci-fi carnival also invites 100 sci-fi professionals and social influencers to engage in various discussions that will explore the world of sci-fi. A sci-fi cocktail party will be organized to host exchanges and discussions among China's sci-fi entrepreneurs, experts, gurus, and crossover heavyweights.
The Trendy Sci-fi Adventure Season is part of the China Science Fiction Convention, which will also hold several other events, including an opening ceremony, an intelligent products and technologies expo, themed forums, and a sci-fi movie week. Last year, the annual sci-fi extravaganza organized 31 forums and salons, attracting the participation of more than 500 experts, entrepreneurs, and investors, and produced 80 million impressions online. The carnival alone attracted an average of 10,000 visitors per day.
Organizers say they are still sourcing excellent creative ideas and exhibition content for this year's upcoming carnival and convention from citizens.
