Digital exhibition brings rich Dunhuang culture to Beijing

A Dunhuang themed digital exhibition opened recently at the National Foreign Cultural Trade Base of Tianzhu Comprehensive Free Trade Zone in Beijing's northeastern Shunyi district.
The Digital Dunhuang exhibition, one of eight exhibitions in the Summer Art Season hosted at the National Foreign Cultural Trade Base, features digital reinterpretations of paintings and sculptures in the Mogao Grottoes of Dunhuang, Gansu province.
Nearly 50 cultural relics from Dunhuang Academy have been digitally recreated across two exhibition halls in the Blanc Art Space. "The exhibition also includes scale reproductions of caves 3 and 285 from the Mogao Grottoes, both of which are now closed to the public," said Tang Li, curator of the exhibition.
On Sept. 17, 2021, the Dunhuang Academy and Palace Museum jointly launched a Dunhuang themed exhibition atop the Wumen Gate in the Forbidden City. The more than two-month-long exhibition was enthusiastically received by visitors.
The exhibition at the National Foreign Cultural Trade Base will run for a record-breaking three years.
