The ninth Wuzhen Theater Festival will take place from Nov 25 to Dec 4 in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province, under the theme of "abundance".

The festival's organizing committee announced on June 28 the topic and rules of this year's Emerging Theater Artists' Competition and opened its online entry call portal.

This year, the competition's topic is "wine bottle, 'blank' and remote control". Within 30 minutes, contestants will give their theater performances without using any props apart from the tables and chairs provided by the committee.

Until Sept 10, theater artists can register for the contest on the festival's official website www.wuzhenfestival.com. Eighteen shortlisted works will enter the next round in Wuzhen, and around seven works will be selected for the final round.

Theater troupes and artists can also register for the Outdoor Carnival section on the website until Sept 30, which embraces all art forms including traditional and modern performing arts, music, new media and installation.
