Biggest 3D-printed T-Rex on display at Universal Beijing Resort

Five life-size dinosaur models, including the world's biggest 3D-printed T-Rex, are on display at the Universal Beijing Resort, which resumed operations on June 25.

Located in the park's Hollywood-themed land, which is near the preexisting Jurassic World Isla Nublar-themed land inside the Universal Studios Beijing, the 1:1 scale dinosaurs are stunning in their size.

Modeling species from Universal Pictures' latest sci-fi epic "Jurassic World: Dominion," the dinosaur stars include the iconic female Velociraptor Blue and its baby, a tyrannosaurus, a stegosaurus, and a pterosaur.

The film hit Chinese theaters on June 10 and had grossed more than 830 million yuan by Friday to become the highest-grossing foreign film so far this year in the Chinese market.

The dinosaurs, which have also attracted numerous visitors, will be exhibited from June 25 to Sept. 30.

After a nearly two-month closure starting May 1 due to the most recent wave of COVID-19 and subsequent wane, the resort was reopened on June 25. When the day finally came, the resort posted a promotional video on its website titled: "Restart the blockbuster fun," while Joe Hoskin, executive vice president and general manager of Universal Beijing Resort, joined staff, performers, and costumed movie characters, to welcome visitors at the gate.

The resort has gradually resumed operations while strictly limiting visitor capacity and fully implementing pandemic control and prevention measures, including shortened opening hours. Nevertheless, its return is seen as a positive sign for the recovery of the city's tourism sector over the summer.

Universal CityWalk Beijing and the Universal Studios Grand Hotel resumed operations on June 24, while the NUO Resort Hotel reopened its doors on July 1. The Grand Hotel further announced they have decorated 162 rooms with Minion-themed decorations based on the cute but silly characters from the "Despicable Me" franchise.

Previously delayed sales of the resort's summer and autumn season passes also went back on sale on July 3.

All visitors to the resort are required to make reservations online, undergo body temperature checks, and present a green health QR code as well as a negative nucleic acid test result taken within 48 hours prior to entry, according to Universal's statement. The resort said it has established an effective mechanism and joint working group with the local government to ensure close communication and coordination of pandemic measures.
