An intangible cultural heritage exhibition opened Sunday in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The exhibition, which will last till Aug. 4, showcases 193 intangible cultural heritage projects from 19 provincial-level regions that offer pairing assistance to Xinjiang and 146 such projects from Xinjiang.

Held in Xinjiang Art Museum, the exhibition has an area of around 5,000 square meters. Sideline activities like a cultural salon and performances will also take place to celebrate the unique charm of intangible cultural heritage.

The exhibition is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the people's government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is expected to boost the cultural exchanges between Xinjiang and the provincial-level regions that offer pairing assistance to the region.

China has been implementing the "pairing assistance" programs in Xinjiang since 1997, channeling financial, technical, and human resource support in various fields to Xinjiang from other regions of China.
