The main promotional film of the 12th Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) was officially revealed on Aug. 7.

The 1 minute, 39-seconds-long short film was directed by award-winning Chinese filmmaker Lu Chuan, and co-starred the "Tiantan Award" Jury President Li Xuejian together with Song Jia, Qi Xi, and Huang Xuan.

The film begins in a screening room where, as the lights illuminate the projectionist played by Li Xuejian, a story about Chinese films, filmmakers, and fans unfolds. In the short film, Song Jia, Qi Xi, and Huang Xuan cordially invite the crowd to watch the film.

Lu is one of the most acclaimed directors in China, known for his award-winning films such as "Kekexili: Mountain Patrol," "City of Life and Death," and the Disneynature wildlife documentary, "Born in China." He served as a judge of the "Tiantan Award" in 2014. In 2020, Lu attended a themed forum of the 10th BJIFF as a guest, where he suggested Beijing develop into a harbor for high-quality film talents of international standards.

The 12th BJIFF, guided by the China Film Administration, hosted by China Media Group and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, and organized by the Beijing Municipal Film Administration, the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau, Beijing Radio & Television Station, the Huairou District People's Government of Beijing Municipality, and Beijing Enterprises Group Company Limited, will take place in Beijing from Aug. 13 to 20, 2022.
