Sony Pictures' action comedy film "Bullet Train" took the top spot once again at the North American box office with an estimated three-day cume of 13.4 million U.S. dollars, according to figures from measurement firm Comscore on Sunday.

The R-rated film has generated 54.48 million dollars in ticket sales after 10 days in North America for a global total of 114.5 million dollars.

Directed by David Leitch, the film stars Brad Pitt as an unlucky assassin whose latest mission puts him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from around the globe -- all with connected, yet conflicting, objectives -- on the world's fastest train.

The film "is considered the last big Hollywood studio title of summer 2022," reported The Hollywood Reporter, a top American entertainment industries magazine and website, as no new summer event pic opened nationwide this weekend.

"In normal times, studios would continue to release event films throughout August. This year is different as the entertainment business emerges from the pandemic and grapples with production and post-production delays," the news outlet commented.

"Bullet Train" is the only one film that took in over 10 million dollars in North America this weekend.

Warner Bros. Pictures' animated film "DC League of Super-Pets" came in second in the chart with 7.17 million dollars on its third weekend, bringing its North American cume to 58.35 million dollars.
