The sixth Lao She Theater Festival, which is scheduled to kicked off on September 14 in Beijing, will stage more than 50 performances of some 20 globally acclaimed productions from around the world at theaters, performance spaces, tourist attractions, and communities along Beijing's Central Axis.

As a representative of Beijing's literary scene, Lao She was a significant figure in Chinese literature during the 20th century. He is best known for his novels "Rickshaw Boy" and "Four Generations under One Roof," as well as the play "Teahouse."

The theme of this year's festival is "Blooming." National and provincial theater troupes, as well as private theater organizations, will gather in Beijing to share their views about the industry, experiences in play creation, and attend drama popularization activities.

There will be five units this year featuring literary masterpieces, various genres of Chinese operas, international masterpieces, latest trends, and campus plays.

The organizers released the Map of the Sixth Lao She Drama Festival during a recent press release, launched digital tickets for the festival, and unveiled the festival's “cloud theater” approach in response to the regular epidemic prevention and control.

The festival is jointly organized by the Xicheng District Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Beijing Artists Management Corp, and Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center, and will run until mid-December this year.
