On Aug. 21, "Love • Lushan" Short Films Season's jury handed the best film award to "Gurgling," a short directed by Li Xinyu and Huo Zhengjie from the Central Academy of Drama and supported by the student crew, which tells the story of a young girl and an old woman's mysterious journey to a waterfall on the mountain. The best director award went to Huang Congrong, a student from the Communication University of China, Nanjing, for their short film "The Lost Love."

The best screenplay award went to Zhang Jingchen, Wang Sihan, and Zhang Zixiang from the Communication University of China for their work, "The Sound of Light." Actor Shen Xiaoping and actress Lu Yuxin won best actor and actress awards for their Nanjing University of Arts' "Finding Mount Lu" and Chonqqing University's "Peach Blossoms in the Mountain Temple Just Start to Bloom" works, respectively. The best film team award was handed to the cast and crew behind "The Fate of Lin Xing'er" from the Qingdao Film Academy.

In addition to the above-mentioned honors, five short films created by teachers and students from Fujian Normal University, Jinan University, Southwest University, Wuhan University, and Jiangxi Science and Technology Normal University were also joint winners of the Excellent Film Award.

These films shared one thing in common: they were all made on Lushan Mountian in Jiangxi province. All the creators and winners thanked Lushan Mountain for giving them inspiration with its local cultural heritage and for their future careers. The short films were presented as stories related to the area as well as cultural references to the mountain's ancient legacy and "Love on Lushan Mountain" (1980), perhaps China's most famous romance film. Inspired by its culture and the iconic film, Lushan International Romance Film Week is initiated and held annually, with a focus on the romance film genre.

"Love • Lushan" Short Films Season is one of the major events of the film week. It was sponsored by the organizing committee of the Lushan International Romance Film Week, the China Film Foundation, the China Film Critics Association, and the Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art, giving opportunities to short film crews to go to Lushan to shoot films. More than 70 teams from over 40 colleges submitted applications to participate, with 11 teams eventually chosen for entry after several rounds of selections.

All the short films made by 11 university teams are available on platforms such as Weibo, Douyin, Bilibili, and Yangshipin, and they had jointly generated more than 10 million video views and 3 million views on topics and discussions on Weibo by Aug. 24. The films were also screened on big outdoor screens at Lushan venues to attract more interest in the local culture and scenery.
