Shanghai will broadcast a new documentary series titled Great Educator from October 15.

The show highlights the contributions of Yu Yi, a 93-year-old woman who has dedicated her life to teaching.

Yu, who has over 60 years of teaching experience, was awarded the "Reform Pioneer" title in education in 2018. She also received the People's Educator award in 2019.

The documentary showcases Yu's life from various perspectives, including her educational experience and teaching philosophy, and present the highlights of her teaching career.

"I have been a teacher my whole life, but I'm still learning how to be a good teacher," said Yu, whose educational ideas of "unity of instrumentality and humanity" have influenced younger generation of educators.

The film crew traveled four municipalities and provinces to gather material from 24 of Yu's acquaintances.

Produced by the Shanghai Education Television Station (SETV), the series comprises four episodes. SETV will release one episode per day at 21:10 on October 15, 17, 18, and 19.
