Tiger-head shoes, made in Yongnian district of Handan, Hebei province, have been popular with customers at home and abroad who are attracted by the style's traditional cute appearance.

The shoes, made with tiger head patterns, are all made for children with traditional folk handicraft. In folk customs, tiger-head shoes can protect children's health, making them popular with the Chinese people especially the elderly in rural areas.

In Zhangxibu township of Yongnian, there's a shoe factory established by a local enthusiast who has liked sewing since childhood and is good at drawing. Wu Xianghuan has helped more than 600 local women and elders get jobs earning about 3,000 yuan ($425) monthly.

Their products are sold both in domestic and overseas markets, including Russia, the United States, Japan and the Philippines, Wu said.
