Children learning Peking Opera at Yuyinshe in Shanghai presented their first public performance during the weekend on Dec 4.

Led by Wang Peiyu, a renowned Peking opera artist, Yuyinshe started enrolling children aged between 5 and 10 since Jan 8 this year.

After about six months of practice, some students went on to win awards for their performances in the municipality.

Wang said that she is aiming to train 500 children and prepare them for further training in professional folk opera academies over the next five years.
