Online music event draws participants from around the world

The 8th Chinese Music Culture Online International Institute recently concluded.

More than 210 musicians and music lovers from 25 countries participated in the event, which covered four parts: traditional Chinese poem chanting, traditional Chinese dance, innovative musical instruments and children choral singing.

Music schools, such as Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Zhejiang Conservatory of Music and Jiangxi Normal University, and Beijing Philharmonic Choir, joined in the online event.

Conductor Yang Li, chief conductor of Beijing Philharmonic Choir, a children's choir founded in 1983 by Chinese music educator and conductor Yang Hongnian (1934-2020) and that has performed at major events such as the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, gave seven online classes to choirs from countries, such as the United States, Hungary and Ecuador.

Founded in 2014, the annual event has attracted about 800 musicians and music lovers from 74 countries.
