The 2023 Beijing Book Fair commenced on Thursday, showcasing a record number of books on an extensive exhibition area to book enthusiasts. 

At the primary exhibition venue Chaoyang Park, Wang Xue, a manager of Beijing Publishing Group, said that the company has brought to the fair a diverse collection of books related to Beijing's history and culture, intending to help people gain a deeper understanding of the city's traditional and modern cultural elements.

In the section dedicated to premium books, China Bookstore, a company specializing in antiquarian books, displayed nearly 200 titles. Visitors can observe and even participate in the process of repairing ancient books, and learn about the traditional techniques involved.

More than 50 physical bookstores are also taking part in the event, hosting a variety of activities catered to both adults and children.

The book fair will last through April 24.
