'Master Lectures for Children' debuts in Macao

The China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) and Tencent jointly hosted a launch ceremony to introduce the "Master Lectures for Children" to Macao's campus on Sept. 13. Wu Weishan, the acclaimed sculptor and director of the National Art Museum of China, Wu Xiangping, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ye Cong, an oceanaut of the Jiaolong manned deep-sea submersible and chief designer of deep-sea manned submersible Fendouzhe, Xie Jun, a chess grandmaster and vice president of the International Chess Federation, engaged in face-to-face interactions with students from City University of Macau (CityU), Pui Ching Middle School, Kao Yip Middle School, and Hou Kong Middle School.

This marks the inaugural edition of the "Master Lectures for Children" program held in Macao's campuses. The event's objective is to provide young individuals with an opportunity to explore the charm of Chinese culture while gaining deeper knowledge of China's technological advancements and achievements in sports. The event received support from the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region Education and Youth Development Bureau, CityU, and the National Conditions Education (Macau) Association.

At CityU, Wu Weishan showcased his sculpture of Soong Ching Ling to introduce his artistic journey and share his creative process. He shared his more than 30 years of artistic experience and personal journey with young students, focusing on how he creates portraits of notable figures from Chinese history. He also explained the artistic spirit, cultural significance, and human values expressed through sculpting and portraying these figures.

At Pui Ching Middle School, Wu Xiangping discussed matters such as the origin and future of the universe with high school students. He motivated them to sustain their passion for scientific exploration and to actively contribute their youthful vigor toward the development of a technologically advanced nation.

At Kao Yip Middle School, Ye Cong shared stories about scientists exploring the underwater world. He introduced knowledge about deep-sea creatures, resources, geography, and marine conservation, encouraging young people to explore the mysteries of the deep ocean.

At Hou Kong Middle School, Xie Jun used an engaging explanation of chess rules to encourage students to observe the world and find solutions to complex problems in life.

"Master Lectures for Children" is a youth-oriented public welfare program created through a collaboration between the CSCLF and Tencent Group. Over the past two years, it has featured over 80 distinguished individuals from the fields of science, culture, sports, and the arts, who have shared their experiences and insights with young audiences. The program aims to ignite the curiosity and aspirations of children across various domains.
