A fashion show featuring the traditional clothing craft of the city of Shigatse, Tibet, was held in the region's Gyalze county on Sunday, displaying the combination of traditional Tibetan clothing and modern design.
With the clear blue sky and the snow-capped Nechen Kangsang mountain as the backdrop, the fashion show was held at an altitude of 4,800 meters. The models presented a heart-stopping visual feast for spectators.
The locally produced woolen cloth, or nambu, is part of a long, profound traditional culture in Tibet. It not only reflects the folk customs of the region, but also demonstrates the harmonious coexistence of all ethnic groups of the region with nature, Guo Xiuling, founder of Chinese brand Sand River, was quoted as saying by Tibet Daily.
As the planner of the fashion show, Guo said that under the guidance and matchmaking of the "aid Tibet" cadres from Shanghai, the fashion design of Sand River has been integrated with Tibetan woolen cloth craftsmanship, providing a close-up experience of visual impact — a collision between traditional woolen clothing handicrafts and modern fashion clothing design.
In recent years, by introducing Shanghai's traditional craft enterprises and industry leaders to Shigatse, the "aid-Tibet" cadres of Shanghai have been supporting the production of local traditional woollen textile products, guiding local craftsmen toward improved processes and better design, quality, brands and markets.
A batch of products enriched with Tibetan elements that are in line with public aesthetics have been produced, and they have been working to transform this unique resource advantage into economic benefits.
