The official launch of the French version of the book "Forget Me" by Chinese author Xu Feng took place on Monday at the China Cultural Center in Brussels.

The book tells the story of Qian Xiuling, known as a national heroine of Belgium for saving 110 Belgians from the hands of the Nazis during World War II.

"In a vivid and significant manner, she recreated the friendship and mutual assistance between the Chinese and Belgian peoples," Chinese Ambassador to Belgium Cao Zhongming said at the launch ceremony.

Following the release of the Dutch version of the book "Forget Me" in August 2022, it required successful collaboration between the Chinese Embassy in Belgium, the Belgian M.E.O. editions, and the Chinese Yilin Press to develop the French version of the book.

"The collaboration has truly been optimal," Gerard Adam, director of M.E.O. editions, the only Belgian publishing house to release translations, told Xinhua.

Adam highlighted the heroism of this woman from a completely different culture who, by necessity, had to immerse herself in Belgian culture.

He expressed hope that this book would help break down prejudices of some Belgian readers toward foreign cultures and overcome differences in values between China and Belgium.

The author of "Forget Me," Xu Feng, emphasized that love and tolerance are forever the wealth of human civilization.

Since its publication in Chinese in April 2021, "Forget Me" has received a favorable reception from readers.

The book is also available in France and is receiving extensive promotion on major Belgian radio stations and online media.
