Masterpieces from Italian museum on display in Jiangsu

An exhibition featuring masterpieces from the National Archaeological Museum of Naples in Italy has opened to the public in east China's Jiangsu Province.

The exhibition, "An Empire for the Art: Masterpieces from the National Archaeological Museum of Naples," debuted in the city of Suzhou on Monday. It is jointly organized by the local Museum of Wu and the National Archaeological Museum of Naples.

Held at the Museum of Wu, the exhibition will last until February 29, 2024.

The exhibition displays representative relics of ancient Roman civilization, including the collection of the Farnese family in Italy and precious cultural relics unearthed from the Herculaneum and Pompeii sites, through 98 artifacts of sculpture, silverware, glassware, fresco and mosaic art.

The National Archaeological Museum of Naples is one of the most renowned museums in Italy. The exhibition aims to show visitors various facets of ancient Roman civilization through ancient Roman art, portraiture, use of color, technology and other elements.
