The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra on Monday held its traditional New Year's Concert in Vienna to celebrate the start of 2024, with the debut of a few numbers at the world-famous concert.
The prestigious annual music event under the baton of German conductor Christian Thielemann this year was staged in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna.
Thielemann also conducted the Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert in 2019.
Nine of the 15 numbers in this year's main program made their debut at the concert, and a number by Austrian composer Anton Bruckner was performed for the first time in the history of the concert to mark Bruckner's 200th birthday later this year, according to organizers.
According to Austrian broadcaster ORF, the 2024 Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert was broadcast in about 100 countries and regions.
