The symphony orchestra of China Conservatory of Music will give a concert at the China National Opera House in Beijing on Jan 27.

Under the baton of conductor Jin Gang, the orchestra will stage music pieces by Chinese composers, celebrating the upcoming Spring Festival, such as Spring Festival Overture by Li Huanzhi and Festival Overture by Zhu Jian'er, both popular music works among Chinese audiences with energetic, dancing melodies.

Violinist Li Yuhe and the orchestra will play The Butterfly Lovers, and guzheng (a plucked-string musical instrument) player Cao Zhaozhao will perform a music piece adapted from a popular folk song from Northwest China, Shan Dan Dan Hua Kai Hong Yan Yan (Red Morningstar Lilies Are In Blossom).

During the upcoming Spring Festival, the orchestra will have two concerts broadcast by Beijing TV Station on Feb 7 and Feb 8. Six concerts by the orchestra will also be streamed online on Feb 4 and Feb 9.

A series of activities presented by the orchestra will take place in places outside concert halls. On Feb 3, musicians will perform at commercial areas in Beijing, such as Sanlitun, and railway stations, bringing music to people who prepare to return to their hometowns for the festival.
